What is FabLab Sant Cugat?

Located near Barcelona, FabLab Sant Cugat is a full size private FabLab with the unique particularity of being located on the campus of a renowned Business School: ESADE. The FabLab is independent from the school, and serves all publics, whether kids, students,adults, or businesses. Thanks to the strong collaboration with ESADE we are developing very innovative programs for Business students. In its 4 years of existence FabLab Sant Cugat has built a community of makers and developed a reputation for extra scholar workshops with its FabKids and FabTeens programs, an Educational Project that pursues the objective of awakening the interest of the youngest in STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) through very practical learning by getting down to work to invent, manufacture and innovate.

Roles and Tasks:

  • Explain and share the Maker Culture.

  • Teach 3D modeling, 2D design, and basic Electronics (Arduino)

  • Operate and show how to operate the different machines in the FabLab (in particular

  • 3D printers and Laser-Cutter).

  • Accompany the students in the development stages of their projects; pointing to

    resources useful to the student’s project.

  • Help students organize and documents their learning tracks and their projects.

  • Propose activities to reinforce the learning experience.

  • Prepare all material necessary to teach a class or to animate a practice.


Knowledge and requirements:

  • Have knowledge of 2D and 3D design programs, (i.e. TinkerCAD, Inkscape ...)

  • Know how to use a laser cutter, vinyl cutter, and 3D printer to transform designs into

    tangible objects.

  • Basic knowledge of electronics (LEDs, circuits, microcontrollers, motors ...) and programming (Arduino, micro: bit ...).

  • Be an enthusiast of the arts (plastic, music, origami ...).

  • Be familiar with the maker philosophy.

  • Be fluent in English.

  • Should have a European work permit.

Conditions:

  • Paid part-time position.

  • Free access to all FabLab equipment.

  • Reports to Educational Program Manager, or Lab Director.

  • Temporary position expandable to permanent.
